Emergency Contraceptives Use among Female Students at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State

The empirical study investigated the issues surrounding knowledge of emergency contraceptives and problems that characterized the usage among female students in Nigerian tertiary institutions. Five (5) faculties were purposively selected for the study selecting a total of five hundred (500) female students using accidental or grab sampling technique. The findings revealed that the knowledge of female students about ECs was not too encouraging, they don’t know what to use and are not always ready for the usage any time they want to satisfy their sexual urge rather, engage in EC any time they have unprotected sex with their partners. By implication, the health sector have to intervene urgently in different areas in order to attain the MDGs some of them gives birth to children without father as a result of having multiple sexual partners and finally, there will be continuity in the spread of STDs.
